Travelling on a Zimbabwean passport does not always mean spending weeks preparing visa applications, bank statements, invitation letters and appointment bookings. There are several popular holiday destinations where Zimbabwean passport holders can travel without applying for a tourist visa in advance. Some offer tropical beaches, others world-famous cities, wildlife, food, shopping or nightlife.

However, visa-free does not always mean paperwork-free.
Countries such as Singapore and Malaysia require travellers to complete an electronic arrival registration before entering, while Seychelles requires a Travel Authorisation even though visitors do not need a conventional visa. This guide looks at 10 popular visa-free holiday destinations for Zimbabwean passport holders in 2026, including:
- how long you can visit without a visa
- arrival cards and travel registrations you may need
- how to get there from Zimbabwe and major Zimbabwean diaspora hubs, including South Africa, the UK, Ireland, Europe, the UAE, Qatar, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada.
- popular things to do
- useful entry and flight-planning tips
Important: This guide covers short holiday and tourist visits using an ordinary Zimbabwean passport. Rules for working, studying, permanent residence or long-term stays are different. Immigration requirements can also change, so always check the destination’s official immigration website before travelling.

One important detail is Singapore. Zimbabwean passport holders are not on Singapore’s visa-required nationality list, but Singapore Immigration determines the actual length of stay at the border. Your electronic Visit Pass, or e-Pass, shows the final date you are permitted to remain.
1. Singapore

Singapore is one of the best options for Zimbabwean travellers looking for a modern city holiday with excellent public transport, food, shopping and attractions.
Visa requirements for Zimbabweans
Zimbabwean passport holders can visit Singapore without obtaining a tourist visa in advance. However, Singapore does not guarantee a fixed number of days simply because you are visa-exempt. The immigration officer determines your permitted stay when you enter, and the expiry date is recorded on your electronic Visit Pass.
SG Arrival Card
You must submit the Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC) before arrival. It can be submitted within three days before your arrival, including the day you arrive, and the official SG Arrival Card service is free. The SG Arrival Card is not a visa. Be careful of unofficial websites charging unnecessary fees for submitting arrival cards.
How to get to Singapore
From Zimbabwe, most journeys involve a connection, often via Johannesburg or a Middle Eastern hub. Johannesburg has nonstop flights to Singapore. Zimbabweans living in the UK can fly nonstop from London, while travellers from Ireland and much of Europe usually have one-stop or direct options depending on their departure city. Singapore is particularly easy to reach from Australia and New Zealand, while travellers in the Gulf have excellent connections from Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi.
Things to do in Singapore
- See the futuristic Gardens by the Bay
- Walk around Marina Bay
- Visit Sentosa Island
- Explore Chinatown and Little India
- Eat at Singapore’s famous hawker centres
- Visit the Night Safari or Singapore Zoo
- Shop along Orchard Road
- Spend an evening around Clarke Quay
Gardens by the Bay is one of Singapore’s signature attractions, combining its famous Supertrees with extensive indoor and outdoor gardens.
Tripenger tip
Singapore works particularly well as a 4-7 day city holiday or as the first stop on a wider Asian trip. Many travellers also combine Singapore with Malaysia, particularly Kuala Lumpur, because the two destinations are close and well connected by both air and road. This can be a good way to turn one long-haul journey into a two-country holiday.
2. Malaysia

Malaysia combines big-city attractions, tropical islands, rainforests, excellent food and relatively affordable accommodation. For Zimbabwean travellers who want an Asian holiday without going through a conventional tourist visa application, Malaysia is one of the most interesting options.
How long can Zimbabweans stay in Malaysia visa-free?
According to the Embassy of Malaysia in Harare, Zimbabwean passport holders do not require a visa for stays not exceeding 30 days.
Malaysia Digital Arrival Card
Visa-free travellers should not confuse visa exemption with arrival requirements. Foreign visitors are required to register the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) before entering Malaysia. The registration can be completed within three days before arrival. Malaysia also requires the traveller’s passport to meet its validity requirements.
How to get to Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia’s main international gateway. From Zimbabwe, expect at least one connection, with Johannesburg or a Gulf hub among the routes worth comparing. Zimbabweans living in the UK have the advantage of direct London–Kuala Lumpur flights, while travellers from Ireland and continental Europe can connect through London, the Gulf or major Asian hubs. Malaysia is particularly convenient for Zimbabweans living in Australia and New Zealand because of its position in Southeast Asia, while Dubai, Doha and other Gulf hubs provide useful connections for travellers based in the Middle East.
Things to do in Malaysia
- See the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur
- Visit Batu Caves
- Explore the street-food scene in Kuala Lumpur
- Visit George Town in Penang
- Relax on Langkawi’s beaches
- Explore historic Malacca
- Visit tropical rainforests and national parks
- Combine Kuala Lumpur with another Southeast Asian destination
Tourism Malaysia promotes the country as a mixture of cities, food, beaches, culture and nature, which makes it especially suitable for travellers who want more than a beach-only holiday.
Tripenger tip
Don’t spend the entire holiday in Kuala Lumpur. With a 30-day visa-free allowance, you have enough time to combine Kuala Lumpur + Penang + Langkawi, even on a relatively short trip. Another popular option is to add Singapore to the same holiday. Kuala Lumpur and Singapore are connected by frequent flights, and travellers who prefer travelling overland can also use premium coach services such as Transtar Solitaire, an 18-seat coach product operated by Transtar Travel.
3. Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a strong choice for travellers interested in food, shopping, skyscrapers, nightlife, harbour views and easy access to nature.
How long can Zimbabweans stay visa-free?
The Hong Kong Immigration Department currently lists Zimbabwean passport holders as eligible to visit visa-free for up to 90 days. Unlike Singapore and Malaysia, there is no equivalent general SGAC or MDAC-style pre-arrival registration requirement for ordinary Zimbabwean tourists at present.
How to get to Hong Kong
From Zimbabwe, travelling through Johannesburg is one of the most straightforward options because nonstop Johannesburg–Hong Kong flights are available. This also makes Hong Kong relatively easy to reach from elsewhere in Southern Africa. Zimbabweans living in the UK can fly nonstop from London, while Ireland and other European countries normally involve a connection unless travelling first to a major long-haul hub. Hong Kong is very well positioned for travellers living in Australia, New Zealand and other parts of Asia, and Gulf-based travellers can compare connections through the Middle East or Southeast Asia.
Things to do in Hong Kong
- Take in the skyline from Victoria Peak
- Ride the Star Ferry across Victoria Harbour
- Visit the Big Buddha on Lantau Island
- Explore traditional street markets
- Try dim sum and Cantonese cuisine
- Visit Hong Kong Disneyland
- Spend a day at Ocean Park
- Hike beyond the skyscrapers and discover Hong Kong’s beaches and country parks
Lantau Island in particular offers a completely different side of Hong Kong, including beaches, hiking, villages and the Tian Tan Buddha.
Tripenger tip
Hong Kong is a good example of why travellers should look beyond the usual “visa-free African countries” lists. A Zimbabwean passport can currently give you up to 90 days visa-free in one of Asia’s major global cities.
4. Philippines

If beaches and island holidays are your priority, the Philippines deserves serious consideration. The country has thousands of islands ranging from major resort destinations to quieter tropical communities.
How long can Zimbabweans stay visa-free?
Zimbabwe is included among the nationalities eligible to enter the Philippines without a visa for an initial stay of up to 30 days. Travellers should generally have a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay and evidence of an onward or return journey.
Philippines eTravel registration
Travellers should complete the Philippines eTravel registration before travelling. Registration is available within 72 hours before arrival, and the official service is free. Keep the QR code or confirmation available for your journey.
How to get to the Philippines
Manila is the main gateway for most international visitors. From Zimbabwe, expect a long journey with at least one connection, usually through Johannesburg, the Gulf or another major Asian hub such as Singapore. Zimbabweans living in the UK have considerably more options, including London–Manila itineraries, while Dublin and most European cities normally require a connection. The Philippines is much easier to reach for Zimbabweans living in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and elsewhere in Asia, while Dubai and Doha are useful connecting hubs for those based in the Gulf.
Things to do in the Philippines
- Relax on the beaches of Boracay
- Explore El Nido and Coron in Palawan
- Visit Cebu
- See Bohol’s Chocolate Hills
- Go snorkelling or scuba diving
- Explore historic Intramuros in Manila
- Take island-hopping boat trips
- Discover smaller islands away from the main resort areas
The Philippine Department of Tourism promotes destinations ranging from beaches and diving areas to heritage, nature and cultural attractions throughout the country.
Tripenger tip
The Philippines is not a destination where you should try to see everything in one trip. Pick two or three areas and leave enough time for domestic flights, ferries and weather-related delays.
5. Mauritius

For Zimbabweans looking for a relatively accessible tropical holiday, Mauritius is difficult to ignore. You get beaches, warm Indian Ocean weather, resorts, hiking, food and activities without needing to travel halfway around the world.
Do Zimbabweans need a visa for Mauritius?
No. Mauritius lists Zimbabwe among countries whose citizens do not require a visa. Rather than treating 90 days as an automatic entitlement, travellers should remember that the actual period permitted is determined by immigration. Mauritius’ tourist rules can allow visits of up to six months in a calendar year on a case-by-case basis.
Mauritius travel form
Mauritius offers an All-in-One Travel Form which visitors are encouraged to complete before travelling. It combines information that would otherwise need to be provided during arrival formalities, while the health declaration requirements should also be completed as applicable.
How to get to Mauritius
Mauritius is one of the easier beach destinations on this list for travellers starting in Southern Africa. From Zimbabwe, Johannesburg is a very useful connection point, with flights operating between Johannesburg and Mauritius. Zimbabweans living in the UK can also reach Mauritius directly from London, while travellers from Ireland and continental Europe can connect through London, Paris, Dubai or other major hubs. Mauritius is particularly convenient for Zimbabweans living in Western Australia, with Perth–Mauritius services available, and travellers in the UAE have direct Dubai connections.
Things to do in Mauritius
- Relax on beaches around the island
- Visit Le Morne Brabant
- See the coloured earth around Chamarel
- Hike in Black River Gorges National Park
- Explore Port Louis
- Take a catamaran or snorkelling trip
- Visit Île aux Cerfs
- Explore waterfalls and mountain scenery
- Try the island’s Creole, Indian, Chinese and French-influenced cuisine
Black River Gorges is Mauritius’ largest protected national park and one of the best places to see the island beyond its resorts.
Tripenger tip
For travellers starting in Zimbabwe or South Africa, Mauritius is one of the easiest international beach holidays on this list because you avoid the extremely long journey required for the Caribbean or Southeast Asia.
6. Seychelles

Seychelles is another excellent Indian Ocean option, particularly for couples, honeymooners and travellers looking for spectacular beaches and smaller islands.
Is Seychelles visa-free for Zimbabweans?
Seychelles does not require tourists to obtain a conventional visa before travelling. Instead, eligible visitors receive a Visitor’s Permit on arrival. The initial visitor permit can be granted for up to three months, subject to meeting the entry conditions.
Travel Authorisation is still required
This is the important part. Although Seychelles is visa-free, travellers must obtain a Seychelles Travel Authorisation before departure through the country’s electronic border system. The standard Travel Authorisation currently costs €10 for an adult, with faster paid processing options available. Visitors should also be prepared to provide:
- confirmed accommodation
- an onward or return ticket
- sufficient funds for their stay
Seychelles Immigration currently states a minimum of US$150 per day for visitor-support requirements.
How to get to Seychelles
From Zimbabwe, Johannesburg is one of the easiest gateways to Seychelles, with flights operating between Johannesburg and Mahé. This makes Seychelles a relatively practical Indian Ocean holiday for travellers from Zimbabwe and South Africa. From the UK, Ireland and much of Europe, travellers will normally connect through hubs such as Dubai, Doha, Addis Ababa or other cities depending on the airline chosen. Seychelles is especially convenient for Zimbabweans living in the Gulf, with Dubai–Mahé flights taking around four and a half hours, while travellers from Australia and New Zealand will generally connect through the Middle East, Asia or another Indian Ocean hub.
Things to do in Seychelles
- Explore Mahé
- Visit Praslin
- Cycle around La Digue
- See Anse Source d’Argent
- Visit Vallée de Mai
- Go snorkelling and diving
- Take island-hopping boat trips
- Relax on some of the Indian Ocean’s most famous beaches
The Seychelles tourism authority highlights Mahé, Praslin and La Digue among the islands visitors can combine during a holiday.
Tripenger tip
Don’t make the mistake of arriving at the airport without your Travel Authorisation because someone told you “Seychelles is visa-free.”
It is visa-free – but it is not travel-authorisation-free.
7. Bahamas

The Bahamas offers something very different from the Indian Ocean destinations on this list: a Caribbean holiday with hundreds of islands and cays.
How long can Zimbabweans stay visa-free?
Official Bahamas visa information lists Zimbabwean passport holders as not requiring a visa, with a visitor period of three months.
How to get to the Bahamas
Nassau is the main gateway for most holidays to the Bahamas. From Zimbabwe and South Africa, expect a long journey involving more than one flight, so the overall routing is just as important as the fare. Zimbabweans living in the UK have a major advantage because nonstop London–Nassau flights are available, while travellers from Ireland and continental Europe can often connect through London. The Bahamas is also much easier to reach for Zimbabweans living in the United States or Canada because of the extensive air links between North America and the Caribbean. Travellers coming from elsewhere should check transit requirements carefully before choosing a route through the United States.
Very important: check your transit country
This matters particularly for Caribbean holidays. A destination may be visa-free for Zimbabweans while the country where you change aircraft is not. For example, the US State Department states that foreign nationals travelling through the United States generally require the appropriate permission to transit unless they qualify for an exemption. So do not book a cheaper Bahamas itinerary through a US airport until you know that you personally meet the US transit requirements.
Things to do in the Bahamas
- Explore Nassau
- Visit Paradise Island
- Relax on white-sand beaches
- Visit the Queen’s Staircase
- Try local food at Arawak Cay/Fish Fry
- Go snorkelling or scuba diving
- Take a boat trip to the Exumas
- Explore smaller islands beyond Nassau
The Bahamas tourism authority highlights Nassau and Paradise Island as major gateways while also encouraging visitors to explore the country’s beaches, diving and Out Islands.
Tripenger tip
For Zimbabweans living in Britain, the Bahamas can be considerably easier to reach than it appears from Zimbabwe itself. Your country of departure can therefore make a huge difference to whether a visa-free destination is genuinely practical.
8. Barbados

Barbados combines Caribbean beaches with history, food, nightlife and a well-developed tourism industry. It is particularly interesting for Zimbabweans living in the UK because London has strong air links with the island.
Entry requirements for Zimbabwean tourists
Zimbabwean passport holders can travel visa-free for short tourist visits, subject to normal immigration approval on arrival. Because published Barbados information about permitted periods can vary by nationality and admission decision, travellers planning a particularly long stay should confirm the exact period with Barbados Immigration rather than assuming that the maximum possible stay will automatically be granted.
Online Immigration & Customs Form
All travellers should complete the Barbados Immigration and Customs Form online. The form becomes available 72 hours before arrival. Visitors should also be prepared to show a valid passport, return/onward travel arrangements, accommodation information and evidence that they can support themselves during their stay.
How to get to Barbados
Barbados is another destination that becomes much easier if you are part of the Zimbabwean diaspora in Britain. London has direct flights to Bridgetown, including year-round Heathrow services and additional Gatwick options, making the UK one of the most convenient starting points. From Ireland, connecting through London is often worth comparing with other European routings. Travellers from Zimbabwe or South Africa should expect a longer multi-sector journey, while Zimbabweans living in the USA or Canada generally have easier access through North American and Caribbean networks. If your itinerary connects through the United States, make sure you meet the relevant US transit or entry requirements before booking.
Things to do in Barbados
- Swim at Carlisle Bay
- Take a catamaran cruise
- Snorkel with sea turtles
- Visit historic Bridgetown
- Spend an evening at Oistins
- See the Atlantic coastline around Bathsheba
- Visit Harrison’s Cave
- Explore rum heritage and local food
- Try surfing and other watersports
Barbados’ official tourism site highlights everything from beaches and turtle encounters to watersports and the rugged Atlantic coast.
Tripenger tip
If you live in the UK, compare Barbados against Mauritius and Seychelles rather than assuming the Caribbean will automatically be more difficult or expensive. Direct-flight availability can completely change the calculation.
9. Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago gives you two very different experiences in one country. Trinidad is known for culture, food, nightlife and Carnival, while Tobago is better known for beaches, reefs and a slower island atmosphere.
How long can Zimbabweans visit visa-free?
Zimbabwe appears on Trinidad and Tobago’s official list of countries whose citizens do not require an entry visa. Visitor guidance generally permits stays of up to 90 days, subject to immigration approval. Travellers should also be ready to show onward/return travel and meet passport requirements.
Online Arrival/Departure Card
Trinidad and Tobago has introduced an online Arrival/Departure Card. The system is available within 72 hours before arrival or departure, so complete it before travelling rather than leaving the paperwork until you reach the airport.
How to get there
From Zimbabwe or South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago requires a longer connecting journey, but access becomes much easier from Europe and North America. Zimbabweans living in the UK can fly directly from London Gatwick to Port of Spain, while travellers from Ireland can compare connecting itineraries through London. Those elsewhere in Europe may connect through London or another major transatlantic hub. Zimbabweans living in the United States and Canada have a wider selection of Caribbean connections, while Gulf, Australian and New Zealand travellers should expect a considerably longer journey with multiple flight sectors.
As with the Bahamas and Barbados, carefully inspect any itinerary that connects through the United States.
Things to do
In Trinidad:
- Experience Trinidad Carnival
- Visit Maracas Bay
- Explore Port of Spain
- Visit Caroni Bird Sanctuary
- Try doubles, roti and other Trinidadian food
- Explore rainforest and waterfalls
In Tobago:
- Relax at Pigeon Point
- Visit Store Bay
- Snorkel or dive around Buccoo Reef
- Explore Tobago’s rainforest
- Take glass-bottom boat trips
- Enjoy a quieter Caribbean island experience
Official tourism information positions Tobago particularly strongly around beaches, reefs, nature and outdoor experiences.
Tripenger tip
If your dates are flexible, compare prices outside the Carnival period. Carnival can be an unforgettable reason to visit Trinidad, but demand for flights and accommodation can rise significantly around major events.
10. Ecuador

Ecuador is perhaps one of the more surprising destinations on this list. Zimbabwean passport holders can travel all the way to South America without applying for a tourist visa in advance, making Ecuador an interesting alternative for travellers who want something very different from the more familiar destinations in Africa, Europe or Asia. Zimbabwe does not appear on Ecuador’s official list of nationalities required to obtain a visa before entry, while the standard tourist stay is up to 90 days. Despite being a relatively small country, Ecuador offers an extraordinary variety of experiences. You can explore historic Andean cities, see active volcanoes, travel into the Amazon rainforest, visit Pacific beaches and, for a bigger-budget trip, continue to the famous Galápagos Islands. Ecuador’s official tourism site describes the country around four major experiences: the Andes, Amazon, Pacific Coast and Galápagos.
How long can Zimbabweans stay in Ecuador visa-free?
Zimbabwean passport holders travelling for a holiday can generally visit Ecuador for up to 90 days without obtaining a tourist visa in advance. The visit is for tourism and should not be treated as permission to work or undertake activities requiring another immigration status.
Is an online arrival registration required?
Unlike Singapore’s SG Arrival Card or Malaysia’s MDAC, Ecuador’s current official tourist-entry guidance does not identify a general pre-travel electronic arrival registration that ordinary tourists must complete simply to enter the country. Travellers should instead make sure they meet the normal entry requirements, including travelling with a valid passport. Ecuador’s official tourism guidance currently advises a passport with at least six months’ validity. If you are travelling onwards to the Galápagos Islands, there are additional procedures and controls associated with visiting the islands, so the Galápagos part of the trip should be planned separately rather than treating it like an ordinary domestic flight.
How to get to Ecuador
Ecuador is one of the longest journeys on this list from Zimbabwe, but it becomes much more accessible for Zimbabweans living in Europe and North America. From Zimbabwe or South Africa, expect connecting flights, with Europe often providing a useful bridge into South America. Madrid is particularly important because flights operate between Madrid and Quito, making Spain a useful connection point for travellers from the UK, Ireland and continental Europe. Zimbabweans living in the USA or Canada have more options through the Americas, with Quito and Guayaquil connected into major regional networks. Travellers based in Dubai, Doha, Australia or New Zealand should expect a longer multi-stop journey and should check transit requirements carefully before choosing the cheapest itinerary.
Things to do in Ecuador
Explore historic Quito
Ecuador’s capital sits high in the Andes and is a good starting point for a first visit.
Spend time exploring the historic centre, viewpoints, markets, churches and neighbourhoods before travelling further into the country. Ecuador’s official tourism material highlights Quito alongside the country’s wider Andean landscapes and colonial cities.
Visit Cotopaxi
One of Ecuador’s most recognisable landscapes is Cotopaxi, the enormous snow-capped volcano south of Quito.
The wider Andean region offers volcanoes, mountain landscapes, hiking and high-altitude adventures. Ecuador’s official tourism site specifically highlights Cotopaxi among its major adventure experiences.
See Quilotoa
Another spectacular Andean destination is Quilotoa, a volcanic crater containing a striking blue-green lake.
It can be combined with a wider journey through Ecuador’s highlands. Ecuador Tourism promotes the Quilotoa Loop alongside Cotopaxi as one of the country’s major Andean adventure areas.
Visit the Galápagos Islands
For many travellers, the Galápagos Islands are the ultimate reason to visit Ecuador.
The islands are famous for their unusual wildlife and volcanic landscapes. Flights to the Galápagos operate from mainland Ecuador, and Avianca currently sells journeys to Baltra in the Galápagos.
This is generally a much more expensive addition than a mainland Ecuador holiday, so budget for the Galápagos separately.
Experience the Amazon
Ecuador also provides access to the Amazon rainforest.
Travellers can explore jungle landscapes, rivers and wildlife, giving you the opportunity to combine the Andes and Amazon within one country. Ecuador’s official tourism authority includes Amazon experiences among the country’s main tourism regions.
Visit Cuenca
For a slower-paced cultural stop, consider Cuenca, another historic Andean city.
Ecuador’s official tourism guide highlights both Quito and Cuenca among the country’s colonial cities.
Explore the Pacific Coast
Ecuador is not only mountains and jungle. The country also has a long Pacific coastline with opportunities for beaches, surfing, diving and, seasonally, whale watching.
Tripenger tips for visiting Ecuador
- Don’t underestimate the altitude in Quito. If you have just arrived after a very long flight, plan an easier first day before attempting strenuous mountain activities.
- Use Quito or Guayaquil as your main gateway. If the Galápagos is part of the holiday, build the domestic island flights into the itinerary from the beginning rather than adding them at the last minute.
- Check your transit visas carefully. This is especially important when travelling from Zimbabwe, Australia, New Zealand or the Caribbean, where some attractive fares may connect through countries with separate transit requirements for Zimbabwean passport holders.
- Consider yellow fever vaccination if your itinerary includes Ecuador’s Amazon region. Ecuador’s Ministry of Health identifies several Amazonian provinces as yellow-fever risk areas and recommends vaccination for people travelling to risk zones.
- Allow enough time. Ecuador is a long journey from Zimbabwe, South Africa, the UK, Ireland and much of the Zimbabwean diaspora. It makes more sense as a proper holiday than a very short weekend-style trip.
Tripenger tip
Ecuador may be one of the most surprising visa-free destinations on this list for Zimbabwean passport holders. It gives travellers something completely different: South America, the Andes, Amazon rainforest, Pacific coastline and Galápagos Islands — with up to 90 days available for a tourist visit without applying for a conventional visa beforehand. For Zimbabweans already living in the UK, Ireland, Europe, USA or Canada, the journey may also be considerably more practical than many people initially assume because Quito and Guayaquil connect into major European and North American airline networks.
Which Visa-Free Destination Is Best for You?
There is no single best option. It depends on the type of holiday you want and where you are travelling from.
Best for a city break
Singapore
Hong Kong
Malaysia
Best for beaches and honeymoons
Seychelles
Mauritius
Bahamas
Barbados
Best for island hopping
Philippines
Seychelles
Bahamas
Best for safari and beach
Kenya
Best for culture, music and Caribbean atmosphere
Trinidad and Tobago
Important Tips for Zimbabwean Passport Holders
1. Visa-free does not mean entry is guaranteed
Visa exemption allows you to travel without obtaining a conventional visa beforehand. Immigration officers still decide whether to admit you.
Carry evidence such as:
- return or onward flight
- confirmed accommodation
- sufficient money for your holiday
- travel insurance
- contact details for where you are staying
Some destinations explicitly require some of these documents.
2. Visa-free does not mean registration-free
Several countries in this guide still require electronic paperwork:
- Singapore – SG Arrival Card
- Malaysia – MDAC
- Philippines – eTravel
- Seychelles – Travel Authorisation
- Barbados – Immigration & Customs Form
- Trinidad & Tobago – Arrival/Departure Card
Do not leave these until you reach the airport.
3. Be careful with unofficial arrival-card websites
Singapore’s SG Arrival Card and the Philippines’ eTravel registration, for example, are available through official government systems without the unnecessary service fees charged by some third-party websites.
Seychelles is different because its Travel Authorisation itself carries a processing fee.
4. Check your transit visa before buying the flight
This is one of the most important tips in this article. Suppose Barbados allows you to enter visa-free, but your cheap flight requires a connection in a country where your Zimbabwean passport requires a transit visa. You still need to comply with the transit country’s rules. This is particularly important when comparing Caribbean itineraries involving the United States. The US generally requires foreign nationals transiting through its territory to hold an appropriate visa unless an exemption applies. Always inspect every airport on the itinerary, not just your final destination.
5. Give yourself a six-month passport-validity buffer
Passport-validity rules vary. Some countries specifically require six months’ validity, while others use different rules. For international holiday planning, having at least six months remaining on your passport substantially reduces the chance of running into airline or immigration problems.
6. Check yellow fever requirements based on your journey
Yellow fever rules can depend not only on your passport but also on where you have recently travelled or transited. This can be particularly relevant for travellers departing from or travelling through parts of Africa.
7. Save your arrival documents offline
After completing an electronic arrival form, save:
- the QR code
- confirmation email
- PDF confirmation
- screenshot
Do not rely entirely on having mobile data when you reach immigration.
8. Check the latest rules again before departure
Visa policies, arrival forms and airline schedules can change. A useful routine is to check:
when booking → one week before travel → again before leaving for the airport.
Before You Book
A Zimbabwean passport can take you to far more holiday destinations without a tourist visa than many travellers realise.
You could spend a week exploring Singapore, combine Kuala Lumpur with Malaysia’s islands, enjoy 90 visa-free days in Hong Kong, go island hopping in the Philippines, relax in Mauritius or Seychelles, experience the Caribbean in Barbados, the Bahamas or Trinidad and Tobago, or take a safari and beach holiday in Kenya.
The important thing is to look beyond the words “visa-free.”
Check:
- how long you may stay
- whether an arrival form or Travel Authorisation is required
- passport validity
- return-ticket and accommodation requirements
- the visa rules of every country where your flight connects
Then compare your flight options carefully.
Whether you are travelling from Harare, Bulawayo, Johannesburg, Cape Town, London, Manchester, Dublin or elsewhere, the best route may not always be the most obvious one.
Entry requirements and airline schedules can change. Always confirm the latest requirements with the relevant immigration authority before travelling.
