Zimbabwean ordinary passport holders normally need a visa. Although Switzerland is outside the European Union, it is part of Schengen: short visits use a type C visa, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Longer study or residence normally follows the national type D process. The application route also depends on the purpose of your visit.

Ordinary Swiss short-stay applications from Zimbabwe go through VFS Global, with specified exceptions handled in Pretoria. Tripenger recommends a genuine flight reservation with a PNR when the applicable checklist requests a booking. Get the Zimbabwe checklist from the Swiss VFS service before choosing a document; a schedule without a PNR does not hold a flight.

Choose your flight itinerary when your journey and document requirement are clear. Obtain the Zimbabwe checklist from the Swiss VFS service before ordering. Basic gives you a proposed schedule without a reservation, so use it only if your applicable instructions allow that document."},{"title":"Do I have to buy a paid flight ticket before my Switzerland visa is approved?","description":"Do not assume a booking request means you must buy a non-refundable ticket. Check whether the Swiss checklist asks for a reservation or an issued ticket, and provide that evidence. If a ticket is specifically requested for your category, review refund terms before purchase. A PNR reservation and a ticket number indicate different stages of the booking process."},{"title":"Can I book a different flight after my visa is approved?","description":"Usually, yes. You can choose another airline or flight time for the same genuine visit to Switzerland. Keep travel within the visa’s validity, permitted stay and entries, and update accommodation and insurance as needed. Carry your current booking confirmations when travelling. Ask the issuing authority about changes to your main destination or purpose. Once approved, search Tripenger for flight deals to Switzerland."},{"title":"How long will my flight reservation remain valid?","description":"A reservation with a PNR lasts until the airline’s ticketing or cancellation deadline; it is not automatically held until your visa decision. Check the deadline before ordering and make sure the booking is valid when you submit it. If the visa office later requests updated evidence, arrange a fresh reservation. A schedule-only itinerary has no reserved seats to expire."},{"title":"What if I am staying with friends or relatives in Switzerland?","description":"Ask your host for a signed invitation explaining the relationship, visit dates, accommodation address and who will cover the costs. Swiss authorities publish guidance for hosts and may request a formal declaration of sponsorship during assessment. Follow the instructions you receive rather than treating a private invitation as automatic financial approval. Your flights should match the visit described by your host."},{"title":"Can I enter through France or Germany and continue to Switzerland?","description":"Yes, a genuine Swiss visit can involve entry through another Schengen country. Show the onward connection to Switzerland, whether by flight, train or road. For example, explain the train to Geneva if your international arrival is in France. Switzerland should be the correct main destination for the visa application; the arrival airport alone does not decide that."},{"title":"Does Switzerland being outside the EU mean I need a separate Schengen visa?","description":"No separate Swiss short-stay visa is normally needed if you already hold a valid uniform Schengen visa covering your trip, with sufficient entries and permitted days. Check the territorial validity on the visa: a limited-territory visa may not cover Switzerland. If you need a new visa and Switzerland is your main destination, use the Swiss application route."},{"title":"Does this advice also apply to a student or long-stay visa?","description":"Do not automatically book a tourist appointment for a course. The Swiss Zimbabwe guidance sends short-stay study applications to the Regional Consular Centre in Pretoria, while studies lasting more than 90 days follow the national visa process. Use the Swiss national visa instructions to confirm where to lodge a long-stay application and which study and travel documents to prepare."},{"title":"How do I order a flight itinerary for Switzerland on Tripenger?","description":"Go to Tripenger’s itinerary page, enter your proposed journey and select the package matching your document requirement. Airline booking retrieval is subject to the airline’s systems and ticketing deadlines. Tripenger does not decide your visa application."},{"title":"Can I order an accommodation itinerary or hotel booking on Tripenger?","description":"Not yet. Tripenger does not currently provide accommodation itineraries or hotel bookings. Arrange a genuine hotel reservation or the appropriate private-host evidence separately. Include every overnight stop if you will split your trip between Swiss cities or neighbouring countries. A flight itinerary covers your flights only."},{"title":"Can I buy travel insurance for Switzerland on Tripenger?","description":"Not yet.
